Sarah Dessen fans rejoice — a few of her young adult novels are officially getting the adaptation treatment over at Netflix!
Netflix has just made some big moves when it comes to continuing their newfound love of adapting beloved young adult books into feature films.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has officially acquired the rights for three novels written by young adult novelist Sarah Dessen.
Dessen’s This Lullaby, Once and for All and Along for the Ride are the books that have been chosen to be adapted into feature films.
The author took to Twitter to share the good news with fans with a pair of tweets, the first of which simply stated: “YOU GUYS.”
Later, Dessen returned to thank fans for all their support.
“Thanks SO MUCH for your kind words and excitement about this,” tweeted the author. “I can’t read too many of your tweets at once or I start blubbering. Y’all are the best.”

First up to get the adaptation treatment will be Along for the Ride.
First published in 2009, the book focuses on Auden West and tells the story of the summer before her first year at college — a summer she opts to spend with her father and his new family.
Eventually, Auden meets Eli — a loner and fellow insomniac who she finds herself striking up a friendship with.
Behind the camera, Bright vets Bryan Unkeless and Eric Newman will serve as producers on the project along with Alyssa Rodrigues.
This isn’t the first time Dessen’s novels have gotten the adaptation treatment.
New Line Cinema/Focus Features romcom How To Deal was based off of Desssen’s That Summer and Someone Like You. The 2003 romcom starred Mandy Moore, Allison Janney, Dylan Baker, Peter Gallagher, and Trent Ford.
There’s currently no word on when we can expect the first of Netflix’s Dessen adaptations to premiere.
