Roswell, New Mexico fans have high hopes for season 3 of their favorite alien fix.

Roswell, New Mexico season 3 is here, and it’s off to a strong start. With two seasons under their cowboy belts, the cast and crew are running like a well-oiled machine that Michael Guerin fixed himself, and everyone is looking comfy cozy in their roles. Now is the time when the characters can really grow and the show can become even better than before.

The season 2 finale put most of the Roswell, New Mexico characters at a turning point. Liz decided to take the Genoryx job in California, Michael, Alex, and Maria all decided to go their separate ways romantically, at least for now, Rosa returned to rehab, Kyle had a newly healthy girlfriend, and Jesse Manes met his demise. It was kind of an out-of-this-world finale.

Roswell, New Mexico season 3 picked up one year, and one global pandemic later, as each character deals with the fallout of past decisions and attempts to move forward with new ones. With so much possibility ahead, here are 8 things we really want to see in Roswell, New Mexico season 3.

The big bad we’ve been waiting for

If I had one complaint about Roswell, New Mexico season 2, it’s that it was a little lacking on the villain side. Sure, there were the mysterious abductions, vague and scary references to Deep Sky, and some sketchy behavior from Diego, but none of that seemed to penetrate too deep until the final episodes.

With the introduction of “Mr. Jones,” Roswell, New Mexico has already provided the perfect solution for their villain problem. It’s not like a Max doppelganger, or whatever this guy is, can just be ignored. They’re going to have to pay close attention to whatever havoc he’s wreaking if, and let’s be honest, when he gets out of that alien cage. Especially now that they might end up freeing him themselves to save Max.

I’m picturing fake outs, Max confronting his inner demons, and even more insight into the home planet of the aliens. I can’t wait to see the increasingly formidable crew meet a worthy opponent!

Rosa rising from rehab in ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ season 3

Rosa had a rough ride in season 2 trying to figure out how to be alive again, especially with the added complication that everyone thought she was dead. With all of that plus a haunted Max attempting to persuade her to kill him, the girl’s pod-granted sobriety understandably took a hit.

Rosa is returning to rehab in Roswell, New Mexico season 3, and I’m so excited to see her begin processing her bipolar disorder and addiction in a real way. Obviously Wyatt Long hanging around is going to make this more complicated than she’d like, but I still have high hopes that Rosa will make some real progress in season 3.

The return of Isobel’s toy chest

A passing comment about Isobel’s Planet 7 fling is not nearly enough. We need to see the return of Isobel’s sexy side, and maybe even her romantic side, in Roswell, New Mexico season 3. We hope to see a little more of Blair (the Planet 7 bartender) as the season continues, but we’d also be okay if they steered Isobel toward some other romantic prospects.

The first one that comes to mind is Rosa. To say they have a history isn’t quite accurate, since Isobel wasn’t actually present for most of it, but they started building a real foundation in season 2. I would absolutely love to see Rosabel have a chance at romance in the back half of season 3.

Another potential suitor for Isobel is Kyle Valenti. The two of them shared a moment at Planet 7 before Blair “cut in,” and Kyle is newly single. My deep desire to see both of these characters happy makes this an equally appealing option, especially since they’ve both been fairly unlucky in love up to this point.

Maria harnessing her power

…and not losing her mind in the process. Maria made the choice to take off her bracelet and let the visions come in the season 2 finale. And come, they did.

Maria is already receiving overwhelming visions involving a funeral and seeing the degradative effects on her brain. We definitely want to see Maria figure out how to use this amazing ability, but we don’t want her to lose herself in the process.

Luckily, Liz Ortecho and Kyle Valenti are on the case, but can their science skills outpace these visions? We sure hope so!

A new and improved Malex

Alex and Michael both acknowledged that Malex needs a little space before it can be something that feels good again. Michael took that space with Maria and his family, and Alex is taking his with Forrest. However, it looks like Forrest might already be out of the picture as of the Roswell, New Mexico season 3 premiere.

Tyler Blackburn, who plays Alex Manes, said that the two men will be taking time to be “friends” in season 3. Hopefully this is exactly what they need to be able to come together in a way that feels right again by the end of the season.

A dynamic Cameron duo

While Riley Voelkel, who plays Jenna Cameron, has not been confirmed for season 3, we’re still hoping that the show surprises us and we get the epic Cameron sister team-up that we deserve with Jeanna and Charlie. We waited until the very end of season 2 for the sisters to be reunited, and they can’t just leave it at that!

The Cameron sisters are incredibly intelligent, powerful women, with Charlie’s scientific mind and Jenna’s detective skills, and I pity anyone who’s opposes them. Did somebody say spinoff?

Arturo receiving his green card

I think all fans can agree that the most important storyline of season 2 was Arturo’s green card application. Now that Genoryx is sponsoring him, we’re desperate to see the conclusion of this and have Arturo receive his green card at last! He’s indisputably the show’s most lovable character, and fans would love to see him get this win in Roswell, New Mexico season 3.

More flashbacks in ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ season 3

One of the highlights of season 2 was the flashbacks to when the aliens landed on Earth. We learned so much about the Manes family, Michael’s mother, Isobel’s mother / Maria’s grandmother, and Walt Sanders. It was also really cool to see the town at a different time. We hope there are more of these to come in Roswell, New Mexico season 3, on top of some flashbacks from the home planet of the aliens.
