Revenge season 4, episode 18, “Clarity,” aired last night. Read our recap to find out what happened with our favorite South Hampton residents.
Revenge starts off with Margaux telling Victoria that she doesn’t want to make a big deal about Emily pushing her into the vehicle that killed her and Daniel’s child. Victoria, however, doesn’t seem like she’s letting go that easily.
Louise arrives back home from Lyman’s funeral and is flustered. Nolan asks how he can help and Louise says she wants a baby. She wants them to be an “open family.”
So, Nolan did her a favor by marrying her and now she wants to have a baby with him? Uh, okay.
At the hospital board meeting they discussed making the front page of the newspaper, stating that they’d accepted a bribe to make a wing in Daniel’s name. They decide that Daniel’s name shouldn’t belong on the research wing’s walls. Emily chimes in and says that since she’s forgiven Daniel and she doesn’t feel his entire life needs to be judged by his last 15 minutes.
The board disagreed and after the meeting Victoria calls Emily out on having her grandson’s blood on her hands as well. Queue Emily’s confused look.
Tony (the social worker) stopped by the Beach Club to visit Nolan and invited him to his party. He has to “find time” to go. When Tony leaves, Jack tells Nolan to talk to his wife about how he feels. Louise may not be on those psych meds anymore, but she’s still a bit cuckoo for Coco Puffs.
Ben’s been promoted to detective, and while in the locker room Victoria slithers in. She reminds him that she’s in good with the police chief and if he finds out that Ben assisted Emily in any illegal activities, then he can kiss his promotion goodbye.
Victoria asked Ben to look into Lyman’s death and as soon as he told her that he didn’t have any other belongings on him other than the necessities, she went straight to visit Louise. She pretended to feel sorry for her loss and then started asking prying questions. Louise caught on quickly and booted Victoria out, but before she left she asked if Nolan told her the truth about Daniel’s death. The answer was an obvious “no.”
After speaking with David, Emily says she understands where Margaux is coming from with her vendetta, so she’s going to try to right the wrong she made regarding Daniel’s death. Emily then visits Jack and asks him to recant his statement about what happened that night with Kate Black.
Stevie Grayson is inside and overhears everything. She gets into a shouting match with Emily. She calls her a trainwreck and that Jack will not be her collateral damage. Ouch.
Jack talks things over with Stevie and she explains all the reasons why recanting his statement is a horrible idea. She asks if the only reason he’s thinking about it is because of Emily, and the look on his face tells it all. She reminds him that he comes from two alcoholic parents and not to let Emily be his glass of scotch.
Jack later heads over to Emily’s to inform her that he can’t help and to let the situation go. Emily is hosting Ben and his brother before Ben’s promotion celebration. Things get a bit awkward between Jack and Ben’s bro.
Now that Jack already told Emily he wouldn’t help, Stevie decides to pay David a visit and yell at him for being a bad father and to face reality. During the argument, David cuts himself pretty badly. We get that Stevie is looking out for her son, but her views seem a bit hypocritical to us.
Nolan ends up going to Tony’s little bonfire at the beach. He declines a call from Louise and then immediately calls her back. While he’s leaving a “sorry I’m staying late at work — don’t wait up” message, Tony overhears. Tony explains that he’s not a home-wrecker and peaces out. Why can’t Louise just understand that Nolan has needs and they didn’t marry for love!?
The next morning Nolan comes up with a lie about the previous night and Louise tells him that Victoria stopped by. Then she starts digging for more info on Daniel. Victoria is good! Just as Nolan practically runs away from baby talk, Louise sees on the gossip blogs that Nolan hung out with the locals on the beach. Someone’s in trouble!
James pays Margaux a visit and tells her that someone named White Gold has agreed to take care of the Emily Thorne problem. Margaux is upset that he handled the plans without her approval.
When Emily visits Nolan to ask for advice in clearing Daniel’s name, he tells her that, “Emily Thorne wasn’t built for good.” Hmm, we smell foreshadowing.
When Emily leaves, Nolan and Jack have another chat. (Isn’t their friendship adorable?) Nolan confesses that Lyman’s death wasn’t an accident and Nolan feels obligated to be with Louise. The cameras pan out and we see that Louise overheard the entire conversation.
Later that night he heads home right after work and tells her that he thinks they should get a divorce since the marriage did what it was supposed to do. Louise says she’ll call the lawyers in the morning and has an amazing poker face. She also thanks him for “always being honest” with her.
Margaux meets with White Gold (Courtney Love) to cancel the Emily Thorne job. White Gold says that’s fine, but now that Margaux knows her identity, they have a problem.
Before Ben’s party, he and Emily get into a small argument about the fact that she wants to clear Daniel’s name. She ditches going to his party to attend the hospital gala with Jack.
Once Emily takes the podium, she announces to the world watching that Daniel actually saved her life and that Malcolm Black was her attacker.
And of course that she is Amanda Clarke. *drops mic*
