Love and friendship
All of the Liars have had more than their share of kisses, over the years, but let’s look back at some of their best ones from Pretty Little Liars season 3.
Aria’s love life
Aria’s parents start to come around on Ezra in Pretty Little Liars season 3 and things get a little less difficult for them. The only problem they’re having at the beginning of the season is regarding Ezra’s finances. He’s still out of a job and Aria tries to help him out as much as she can, but that only makes him feel more insecure. He starts working a series of odd writing jobs, but nothing really works out. To earn some extra cash, he sells his grandfather’s old Jaguar.
Aria walks into Ezra’s apartment one day to find him there with his mother. Aria puts on her best “meeting the boyfriend’s mom” face, and it seems to go over well. She invites them to a fundraiser and Aria accepts the invitation for both of them.
At the fundraiser, Aria discovers that Ezra is a member of the elite Fitzgerald family, meaning he’s extremely wealthy. Aria’s extremely surprised when Ezra’s mom offers to pay her to stop seeing her son, but Ezra isn’t. He left his family and their money behind because of her manipulative behavior.
The next family run in Aria has is with Ezra’s brother, Wes. She walks in on them fighting about buying back the Jaguar (their mother suddenly got sentimental) and Wes ends up picking Aria up at Noel Kahn’s party, soon after, when Ezra is out. During their drive, he lets it slip that Ezra once got a girl pregnant and that their mother paid her to “take care of it,” and to never speak to her son again.
Following this, Ezra actually tracks Maggie down, and Aria decides to pay her a little secret visit. While there, she discovers that Maggie does, in fact, have a son and deduces that it must be Ezra’s. Aria tells Wes, but they don’t know whether or not to tell Ezra. Then, Maggie shows up at Ezra’s and asks Aria not to tell.
When A texts Spencer from Aria’s phone saying that Ezra broke up with her, Spencer (still hurting from her break up with Toby) explodes on Ezra and tells him out his son, thinking that he knew. Ezra confronts Aria and when she explains he says that he isn’t angry, but he leaves to go meet his son, Malcolm.
While Ezra’s away, Aria and Wes start hanging out at his apartment and elsewhere. Eventually, Wes kisses Aria, but she tells him she can’t do that. When Ezra returns, he tells Aria that he feels bad for involving her in his drama, but that he wants her in his life. She’s on board until A (Spencer) takes Malcolm when he’s under Aria’s care. Things get even worse when Ezra’s offered a job at Rosewood High School, so Aria ends things, saying that “nothing about us feels right anymore.”
Emily’s love life
Emily is obviously still reeling from Maya’s death at the beginning of Pretty Little Liars season 3, but she and Paige agreed to be friends at the masquerade ball, so Emily starts that friendship off by asking Paige to go see the Katy Perry movie with her. However, Emily later finds out that she has to work at Jenna’s birthday party that night, so Paige tags along.
At the same time, Emily is also developing a friendship with Maya’s cousin, Nate. At the party, Paige gets jealous of how much Emily is talking to Nate, even though Nate is interested in Jenna. Paige starts drinking out of Emily’s flask and gets more of a buzz than she bargained for, since there are residual drugs in the flask from “that night.”
When Emily finds out that Paige was drugged because of her, she tells her about that night. Paige reveals that she saw Emily that night, and they kissed. She hints that more may have happened, as well, and also says that the phone call Emily received at 11pm was from her. Paige feels bad for taking advantage of her, but Emily says that she was looking for her that night for a reason, and they make out.
Things get a little shaky when Paige walks in on Emily crying while watching videos of Maya, and they get way shakier when she sees Emily kissing Nate! They bonded over their love of Maya after Nate got really abrasive with Jenna when she started ignoring him. Emily tells Paige that it felt right in the moment, but that it was a mistake, and all is forgiven. However, Nate starts getting really clingy with Emily after the kiss.
CeCe sees Emily and Paige together and gets angry because Ali hated Paige. She reveals that Ali called her pigskin, which makes the Liars remember a time when Ali had a huge bruise from pigskin. This leads them to think the Paige might be A. Emily drops this notion when Paige confessed that Ali almost made her commit suicide, but the other girls hang on to it until the night that Nate dies. After that, Paige and Emily remain pretty strong, even through Paige’s plan with Caleb and the reveal that she used to date Shana.
Hanna’s love life
Caleb starts getting frustrated with Hanna when he can tell that she’s lying to him about visiting Mona. When she finally breaks down and tells him, he goes with her. Hanna also starts seeing Wren at these visits, and they bond over Mona.
When Caleb finds out that Hanna is still lying about going to Radley and keeping other secrets, he breaks up with her. She was just about to tell him the truth when A texted her, letting her know that they’d caused his mom to be in a car accident, and threatened her to keep quiet.
Wren tells Hanna they the Radley board is thinking of sending Mona to a high security facility. Together, they fight for her to stay, and when it works, Hanna kisses Wren. Soon after, Caleb tricks Hanna with an A text so he can verify that she’s getting texts again.
With Caleb in the know, and vowing to help her stop A, they get back together, but they attempt to keep it secret. Wren asks Hanna out after they get back together, but she says no, obviously. They continue to keep their relationship secret until Halloween, when A uses a copy of Caleb’s costume to trick Hanna. They realize the cat’s out of the bag, so they become public again.
Caleb and Hanna go to see his childhood home when he learns that it’s being demolished. There, he sees his Uncle Jamie, who he remembers as being fun, but a bit inconsistent. Hanna figures out that Jamie’s actually Caleb’s dad, and she encourages the two to develop a deeper relationship.
Ashley even helps Jamie get a job fixing the church bell tower, but things start happening to make people accuse him of being a thief. He had a bill that Hanna placed in the church collection box, and the bell that he brought back was much cheaper than the previous bell. Hanna tells Caleb that he’s not who they thought, and Caleb tells him to get lost, after he gets fired. Then, they realize that the whole thing was a set up by A.
Spencer’s love life
Toby, like Caleb, is also fed up with the Liars’ secrets in Pretty Little Liars season 3. He actually leaves town, vowing to “figure it out,” but we never really hear more about that, and he comes back sporadically. One day, while Spencer’s in his new apartment, above the Brew, she finds an E. Lamb Radley badge with Toby’s picture on it.
Later, she sees Toby searching for something in her kitchen in a black hoodie, and she’s obviously devastated that he’s on the A Team. She keeps trying to figure out that there’s more to the story, but Toby goes silent on her. Spencer is completely broken.
With Toby out of the picture, creepy Wren swoops in! Spencer invites him to go to dinner, but it’s really just a ruse to get to the decathlon meet, where she attacks Mona. However, after that, they go on a real date, and they hook up. This doesn’t really help Spencer’s mood, though, as she’s still completely heartbroken about Toby.
Spencer ends up telling the other Liars about Toby when she believes he locked her in her steam room, and shortly after that, Mona leads Spencer to a dead body with Toby’s tattoo. Spencer is so shattered by the discovery that the paramedics take her to Radley.
Mona tells Spencer that Toby is fine, and asks her to join the A Team, again. Desperate for information about Toby, Spencer does it. She hatches a plan to “deliver the girls,” and Toby is to be her prize. However, she manages to meet up with him before that. He tells her that he’s pretending to be on the A Team to keep her safe. Spence takes his word for it, and they have sex. Together, they then devise their own plan and go against Mona’s in the Pretty Little Liars season 3 finale.

Eventually, they start to bond over Alison’s diary pages, but Meredith is actually just trying to make sure Aria doesn’t go to the police about her dad and Alison.
