The latest Twilight Wings short includes a Dewgong, leading to The Pokémon Company issuing a statement apologizing for its oversight.

The Pokémon shorts in the Twilight Wings series feature the Gym Leaders and star Trainers of the Galar region, with the latest short story focusing on the career path of the Water-Type trainer Nessa.

The plot of the latest Twilight Wings short follows Nessa’s desire to be both a model and a top Pokémon Trainer. She swims with various Pokémon in her modeling shoot, with fan favorites such as Lapras and Milotic making an appearance.

Nessa dives into the ocean, posing with the beautiful creatures of the deep. Then, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, a Dewgong leaps into the air, which was enough for The Pokémon Company’s Q&A team to raise the alarm.

In their apology on the Japanese Twitter account for the brand, the company’s tweet describes how in the Nessa Twilight Wings short, “some Pokemon that did not appear in Pokemon Sword Shield appeared.” The tweet goes on to say they are “sorry for making a misleading expression.”

The issue at hand is that a large portion of the Pokémon community is upset about many series favorite ‘mons not being included in the Sword and Shield National Dex.

The Pokémon Company’s apology about the Nessa Twilight Wings short stirs tensions in the fan community, reminding them the brand is fully aware of the frustration surrounding the missing Pocket Monsters in the National Dex.

While it isn’t clear if Nessa is in the Galar region for her photoshoot, it is possible she is, seeing as most of the other Pokémon in the short can currently be found in the wild in Sword and Shield.

In the coming Sword and Shield DLC, around 200 Pokémon missing from the current National Dex will be added. The DLC will also introduce new Legendary ‘mons, along with new plot and areas to explore.
