A Grease prequel series all about the Pink Ladies is officially on the way over at Paramount+.
Paramount+ has officially given a series order to Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.
The 10-episode series would serve as a prequel to the iconic 1978 film, and is set four years prior to the events of Grease.
As the title suggests, Rise of the Pink Ladies will showcase how Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty, and Jan came to be the iconic friend group we first met in the movie during their senior year.
“Before rock ’n’ roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, four fed-up, outcast girls dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking moral panic that will change Rydell High forever,” reads the synopsis for the series according to Deadline.
Behind the camera, Atypical alum Annabel Oakes serves as writer, creator, and executive producer on Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.
Other executive producers include Marty Bowen of Temple Hill, and Erik Feig at Picturestart.
Interestingly, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies isn’t the only prequel Paramount is cooking up behind the scenes.
In addition, the studio is also planning a movie prequel called Summer Lovin, which will dive further into what actually transpired that fateful season that Danny and Sandy first met.
Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect to see Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies debut via Paramount+.
