Now, aside from scenes that these superfans are looking forward to, there are a bunch of new characters who are due to be introduced. Everyone has their own personal favorite in that regard.
Ian Murray
Ginger from Outlander Podcast lists Jamie’s best friend all the way from his childhood through his mercenary army days on the top of her list of characters she’s longing to see. Sue, the human behind Donas, echoes this choice. Probably, not unexpectedly, Donas’ choices are all equine.
Hamish McKenzie
Yes, yes, we know that we met Letitia and Colum MacKenzie’s son in the first half of the season but it wasn’t that long of a meeting. We want to get to know the heir to Clan McKenzie better. Sue writes, “Gotta toss the horse a bone here. I really want to see the Donas and the Jamie/Hamish barn conversation.”
Jenny Fraser Murray
Again, we know, we sort of met Jenny in a flashback sequence in the first half, but we want present timeline Jenny! Both Roxy and Tracey have Jenny on the top of their lists. Tracey says, “Very excited to get to know Jenny more. For the non-book readers, she’s pretty much what you imagine Jamie’s sister would be like. Not exactly a shrinking violet.”
Duke of Sandringham
We’ve only heard of the Duke so far. Claire, via a conversation with Frank, assumes that Sandringham is Black Jack Randall’s high ranking protector, and the reason he gets away with brutality.
Carol couldn’t contain her excitement about the Duke, “SANDRINGHAM!!! I find him to be an absolutely fascinating character. There are so many layers to his personality and storyline, and Simon Callow, are you KIDDING ME — casting perfection. BRING ON PART 2!!!”
Father Anselm
It’s nice to know that all the clergy in Outlander, unlike Father Bain, haven’t lost their ever loving minds. Anslem is pretty much what you would want in a priest. Tracey shares, “He is a monk, his scenes with Claire are maybe my favorite parts of the book, so I’m definitely looking forward to meeting him.”
So, those are the top picks of our Outlander superfans. Check them all out, they have great insight. As Sinead, who runs @JeSuisPrestNow, puts it, “I’ve also met lots of new friends through @outlandishUK. We’ve had meet ups in Outlander castles, weekends away together, had dinner with Diana, arranged the Emulsion Scottish premier in Inverness where fans came from America, Canada, Germany and Spain to meet Sam at a Q&A. I’ve met a fantastic group of people and made lots of fast friendships. It’s been such fun being part of this community, something I’ve never experienced before. This May we have a huge gathering in Scotland with 200 fans coming. There are fans coming from 15 different countries worldwide, so I’m really looking forward to meeting some of the friends that I’ve met on twitter.”
Don’t miss Outlander this Saturday at 9:00pm ET/PT when it returns to Starz.
