What did you think about tonight’s shocking Once Upon a Time episode?! React here, and see the promo for next Sunday’s “Welcome to Storybrooke.”
The episode began with Rose McGowan playing a young Cora. How did you think she did? Her backstory certainly made us sympathize with her, but is that enough of a reason for her to turn as evil as she did?
Her backstory is, of course, the one we have all been waiting for. She was the miller’s daughter, the one who had told the king she could spin straw into gold. The king called her bluff and locked her in a room in the castle, promising his son to her if she was able to do what she said she could. Enter Rumpelstiltskin, who told her he would spin the straw for her in exchange for her firstborn child.
This episode also saw Snow White struggle with the dark magic that lives inside of the candle Cora had given her when she was disguised as the Blue Fairy. Rumpel just happened to have it in his shop, saying he was saving it for a rainy day. The presence of the candle definitely put Snow’s determination to kill Cora to the test. Then, of course, she put the decision in Regina’s hands (literally!).
“The Miller’s Daughter” was definitely full of revelations as well. Can you believe Queen Eva was so different than when she was just a princess? And what about the fact that Rumpelstiltskin and Cora definitely had a thing when she was younger? Not to mention that Cora chose power over her love for Rumpel!
And how can we not mention the fact that Cora is now dead!? Did you see that coming? What did you think of Snow’s betrayal of Regina? Are you glad Cora is gone, or would you have liked to see her with her heart inside of her?
Next week’s episode “Welcome to Storybrooke” looks like another exciting one! In our first ever Storybrooke flashback, we’ll get to see Sheriff Graham (Jamie Dornan) again and learn more about what led Regina to want to adopt a child.
