For Once Upon a Time characters, relationships are anything but smooth sailing. The season 4, episode 1 stills hint at the rough waters ahead for some of Storybrooke’s romantic duos.

The photos from the premiere episode of season 4 create a line between Storybrooke and Arendelle. So far barely any footage has been released showing Elsa’s interactions with the town beyond a glimpse of her on the streets of Storybrooke.

One can assume that Emma and Hook are facing the result of Elsa’s self-defense, a snow monster, formed when she feels threatened in her unfamiliar surroundings. The theme, hinted at in the synopsis, is reminiscent of the beginning of her origins in Frozen.

No man wants to trade places with Robin in the season opener! His wife, Maid Marian, finds him in a relationship with the woman who sentenced her to death in another world. How would you react?

Noticeably missing, but not forgotten from the upcoming episode, are David and Mary Margaret with their new son, Prince Neal. Another newcomer to Storybrooke, Will Scarlett, arrives this season following his adventures in Wonderland with Alice and the Red Queen.

As always, Henry’s role among the Storybrooke elite will be tested this season. The heart of the truest believer is waiting to unleash his own magical powers. The son of the Savior and the decedent of Peter Pan must have some strong powers brewing inside. But will his magical blood run toward the dark or the light?
