The Nintendo Switch will have a new look and some changed up features in 2019, says the Wall Street Journal in an exclusive report.
According to WSJ, the new Nintendo Switch model will “likely share many features with the current version and be compatible with existing Switch game software.” The current Nintendo Switch model has compatibility with a lot of different controller setups, from the Switch Pro Controller to the original Nintendo GameCube controller (a popular setup for Super Smash Bros. fans).
The current Nintendo Switch has a bit of a darker LCD, which can be at times hard to see, especially in outside environments. According to the report, the new Nintendo Switch model will have an updated screen comparable to “more recent smartphone LCDs.”
The upgrade on the LCD screen would “make it brighter, thinner and more energy-efficient.” The current Nintendo Switch model has a decent battery life of around four hours, which is already asking a lot of a portable gaming console that packs as much power as the Nintendo Switch does. However, it would be nice to see that battery life bumped up to somewhere in the eight to 10 hour range.
Nothing is solid about the new Nintendo Switch model, as Nintendo is apparently “still debating what new hardware and software features to include in the upgrade.” The Nintendo Switch debuted on March 3, 2017, and released alongside blockbuster game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
