Muse has released, what looks to be, a colorful scan of nerve fibers as the album cover for the band’s upcoming sixth studio album, The 2nd Law.
The British rockers unveiled the cover art on their website Monday, linking to The Human Connectome Project – a website dedicated to the human brain and promising a “compilation of neural data, an interface to graphically navigate this data and the opportunity to achieve never before realized conclusions about the living human brain.”
Similar photographs on the Human Connectome Project website are described as white matter fibers, which are bundles of nerve cells that carry nerve impulses between neurons.
The 2nd Law is due Sept. 17 in the U.K. and Sept. 18 in the U.S. Until then, check out Muse’s “Survival” – the official song of the London Olympics – and The 2nd Law album trailer.
What do you think of the album art? What does it reveal about the album?
