Get ready to see more of Hercule Poirot on the big screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twentieth Century Fox is already working on a sequel to Murder on the Orient Express.
The Agatha Christie adaptation, which hit theaters earlier this month on November 10, found the mystery author’s famed detective Hercule Poirot (played by Kenneth Branagh) racing against time to find out who done it after a murder occurs aboard the Orient Express.
Up next, Fox is said to be moving forward with plans to adapt Christie’s Death on the Nile, which will find fans joining the world’s greatest detective as he boards a riverboat cruise.
In the novel, which was originally published in 1937, Hercule Poirot finds himself in Egypt with the intent of going on vacation. Once there, the detective winds up in the midst of a love triangle turned sour. When murder comes into play, it’ll be up to Poirot to once again get to the bottom of things and solve the case once and for all.
The production company will be getting the band back together, so to speak, for the upcoming sequel. Murder on the Orient Express scribe Michael Green is officially set to return to pen Death on the Nile.
Though negotiations have not been made yet, it’s also expected that Kenneth Branagh will return to both direct the sequel, and to reprise his role as the famed detective.
To date, Murder on the Orient Express has grossed a whopping $150 million and counting worldwide, so it’s no surprise that Twentieth Century Fox is looking to strike gold once more with the forthcoming sequel.
