For anyone following foreign film products over the past few years, one film on most people’s favorites has been Park Chan-Wook‘s Oldboy. We now have learned that Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men) has been cast in Spike Lee’s (Do The Right Thing) remake of the film. More information after the break.
Deadline has reported the news without much additional news. Here’s a synopsis of the original film:
The film follows the story of one Oh Dae-Su, who is locked in a hotel room for 15 years without knowing his captor’s motives. When he is finally released, Dae-su finds himself still trapped in a web of conspiracy and violence. His own quest for vengeance becomes tied in with romance when he falls for an attractive sushi chef.
The report states that Lee plans to begin production on the film in March 2012, so we can only assume additional casting will be announced soon, as this is a high-profile production.
