The Big Bang Theory may be over, but stars Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons are sticking together for their next project.
According to Entertainment Weekly, actors Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons have both signed on to executive produce the upcoming Fox series, Carla.
Based off of a U.K. series called Miranda (2009 – 2015), Carla is being produced by Warner Bros. TV and has been given a series commitment by Fox; the forthcoming series is described as a multi-camera sitcom.
The sitcom focuses on a 39-year-old woman named Carla who “struggles every day against society and her mother to prove that you cannot have everything you want— and still be happy.”
In order to prove this, Carla takes the money her parents have been saving up for her wedding and instead uses it to open a cat cafe in Louisville, Kentucky.
In addition to her executive producing duties, Bialik will also star as the forthcoming sitcom’s titular character.
The Big Bang Theory alum took to Twitter to share the good news with fans far and wide with a sweet tweet in which she expressed her joy over getting to re-team with Jim Parsons.
“Well, friends. Here’s what I’ve been up to — so excited and happy to work with Jim again, and looking forward to bringing this show to life with the incredible team we’re assembling,” tweeted Bialik.

In a statement officially announcing the project, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn said: “Carla is an unapologetically big, broad multi-cam with a strong female point of view, pushing the format in a way that will be distinctive. With the A+ creative team, our partners at Warner Bros., led by the inimitable Peter Roth, and BBC Studios, we think we have something truly special here.”
There’s currently no word on when we can expect Carla to make its grand debut via Fox.
