Check out the second episode of Welcome to Sanditon and new developments from the kickoff week of the follow-up miniseries to The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.
Welcome to Sanditon released its second episode yesterday, giving viewers a longer introduction to a character who made a brief-but-strong impression in episode 1.
Episode 2: Trick or Treat
In episode 2 of Welcome to Sanditon, Clara Breton – owner of Sanditon Scoops and leader of the opposition to Mayor Parker’s plans for the town – makes her first Domino video for Gigi. Though she is new to vlogging, Clara becomes more comfortable when she shares her recipe for trick-or-treat ice cream and the story that inspired it. She ends the video by inviting Gigi to Thursday’s craft night at the ice cream parlor.
Social Network Sanditon
Twitter was on the quiet side this week as Welcome to Sanditon got off the ground, though there was a modicum of drama involving the Twitter feeds of role-playing fans being flagged for spam. @SanditonCA commented:
The sudden enthusiasm over #Sanditon seems to have been interpreted as spam. Avoid following large numbers of fellow residents all at once.

To reiterate, we don’t yet know why accounts are suspended. But residents are not doing anything wrong; being suspended is not your fault.

We did, however, get a glimpse at the personal lives of a few main players. Mayor Tom Parker (@TomPofSanditon) found navigating Twitter a bit difficult, though he managed to link to a digital brochure sharing his view of Sanditon:
Our new brochure gives visitors and residents a look at the past, present, and bright future of Sanditon! bit.ly/sandbro

The Mayor also succeeded in visibly irritating his social media go-to guy Edward Denham (@TheEdwardDenham) with his minor hysteria over the complex inner working of Twitter.
@theedwarddenham!Has my twitter account been suspended?
— Tom Parker (@TomPofSanditon) May 16, 2013
@tompofsanditon Since you can send me that, I’m gonna say no.
— Edward Denham (@TheEdwardDenham) May 16, 2013
@theedwarddenhamOh, good…Has yours?
— Tom Parker (@TomPofSanditon) May 16, 2013
At which point, a palpably irritated Edward wrote:
…I love my job.
— Edward Denham (@TheEdwardDenham) May 16, 2013
Elsewhere, Clara found support for her cause:
Someone started a “Save Sanditon Scoops” petition! Maybe I should have free sprinkles nights more often… ow.ly/l1L3A
— Clara Breton (@TheClaraBreton) May 14, 2013
And most importantly, Clara later shared the upcoming week’s special flavor on Sanditon Scoop’s Facebook page: Tangy ginger cantaloupe.
