Leonard Nimoy, the original Spock on Star Trek, has been hospitalized. Many of his former castmates have taken to Twitter to offer their support.
Yesterday, George Takei announced on Twitter that 83-year-old actor Leonard Nimoy, best known as Spock from Star Trek, has been admitted to the hospital:
My friend and Star Trek colleague Leonard Nimoy (@TheRealNimoy) was hospitalized with chest pains. Join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.

Many of Nimoy’s friends and former co-stars have followed Takei’s example, and publicly offered their sympathy and support:
I am uplifted by the show of love & caring tweeted to my dear friend @TheRealNimoy. I join the chorus of well wishers for a quick recovery!

Early last year, Leonard Nimoy was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, a serious illness affecting the lungs.
He made his disease public on Twitter, adding that since COPD is often caused by smoking, it’s never too early to quit:
I quit smoking 30 yrs ago. Not soon enough. I have COPD. Grandpa says, quit now!! LLAP

Don't smoke. I did. Wish I never had. LLAP

The actor has been in and out of the hospital since he was first diagnosed. This time, he was reportedly admitted on February 19.
Nimoy almost always signs off his tweets with “LLAP,” which of course stands for “Live Long and Prosper.” And that is exactly what we’re hoping the iconic actor will do.
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP
