Vampire Diaries vet Julie Plec will be taking her next project to HBO Max.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Julie Plec is currently in the process of developing a new series for HBO Max titled The Beach.
Based on author Melissa de la Cruz’s young adult novel, Beach Lane, The Beach focuses on three teens local to the Hamptons who spend one magical summer working at some of the popular seaside vacation destination’s most elite estates, high profile beach clubs, and luxurious boats.
Over the course of the summer, the three teens find their lives becoming more and more intertwined with those of the wealthy families who come from the Big Apple to vacation in the Hamptons.
Plec isn’t the only CW vet to be working on the adaptation behind the scenes.
In addition, Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith have signed on to write the script for the series. CW fans will undoubtedly be familiar with Cardillo and Keith’s past work. Previously, the pair worked on the network’s short-lived series Life Sentence, starring Pretty Little Liars vet and upcoming star of Katy Keene, Lucy Hale.
Both Cardillo and Keith will also serve as executive producers on Beach Lane alongside Plec herself. In addition, actress Jenna Dewan is also set to serve as a producer on the project through her Everhart Productions.
There’s currently no word on when we can expect Beach Lane to debut via HBO Max, which is officially set to launch in May 2020.
