J.K. Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter at Home’ digital hub offers resources for children and parents

J.K. Rowling has announced the launch of the Harry Potter at Home digital hub, which offers resources for parents, students, and teachers to use at home!

The hub is part of the WizardingWorld.com website and was created to “help children, parents, carers and teachers add a touch of Harry Potter magic to our new daily lives.”

Harry Potter at Home combines the resources of publishers Bloomsbury and Scholastic, Pottermore Publishing, leading spoken-word producer and provider Audible, library supplier OverDrive, and the content creators at WizardingWorld.com.

For teachers, J.K. Rowling and her team have relaxed copyright permissions for Harry Potter, which means teachers can now read all seven books out loud to students in virtual read-a-long sessions on video.

One of the most exciting parts of the hub is the fact that, thanks to Audible, it will provide the first Harry Potter audiobook for free for everyone. J.K Rowling’s first book will be available through Audible’s new free library, Audible Stories.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone — in addition to a long list of other children’s books and classics — will be free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet without an account on Audible.

If Audiobooks aren’t your thing (or your kid’s thing), the digital hub has also teamed up with digital library supplier, Overdrive, to make the first J.K. Rowling book available in its digital form.

Patrons of OverDrive libraries will be able to borrow Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as an eBook or audiobook in over 20 languages from participating local and school libraries, including via Overdrive’s Libby app, and the Sora app for schools.

The digital hub will also house special activity kits from Bloomsbury and Scholastic, magical craft videos, fun articles, quizzes, puzzles, and more.
