Jamie Dornan is laying down his handcuffs and picking up a sword as he joins the production of Robin Hood: Origins as a well-known member of the Merry Men.
Dornan is currently playing Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades trilogy of films based on E.L. James’ bestselling series of novels.
But for those of you who can’t wait for the actor to get back to more savory roles, you’re in luck! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dornan is in talks to join Robin Hood: Origins as Will Scarlet.
Will Scarlet is known as one of the youngest members of the Merry Men, and he’s an excellent swordsman who has a penchant for fine clothing and a temper worth avoiding.
In this version of the movie, Maid Marian is actually his wife, and he is not pleased when he finds out her heart lay elsewhere.
Origins is obviously still fleshing out its cast, but many of the main roles have already been awarded.
Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) will play Robin Hood, while Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) will portray Little John. Eve Hewson (Bridge of Spies) is taking on Maid Marian.
The movie will be directed by Otto Bathurst (Margot) and written by Joby Harold (Awake). Bathurst seems to have directed a lot of made-for-TV movies and television shows, so it’ll be great to see what he does with a movie of this size.
Jamie Dornan will be next seen in Untogether. For fans of Once Upon a Time who still miss Graham/The Hunstman following his tragic death way back in season 1, this feels a little like Dornan is that much closer to coming home.
Never forget. R.I.P.
