Apple, today, has released the long-anticipated iPhone 5 as well as an updated iPod touch and iPod nano line!
The iPhone 5, which is a moniker used for a new iPhone as far back as 2010, has finally made its way to reality today when Apple announced its latest iPhone.
Here’s the scoop on Apple’s announcement today, broken down by each product:
iPhone 5
Pre-orders start September 14th. Available for purchase September 21st.
16GB – $199, 32GB – $299, 64GB – $399
- 4″ retina display (up from 3.5″ in previous models) with 1136 x 640 pixels.
- 18% thinner than iPhone 4S
- LTE compatible
- A6 processor (twice as fast as iPhone 4S’s A5)
- Front-facing camera now records 720p HD video, takes photos from video
- New 8-pin Lightning connector (will require adapter for previous generation accessories)
- New redesigned EarPod headphones
- Comes in white and black. Black version will have a black anodized aluminum back while the white version will have a raw aluminum back, according to MacRumors.com.
iPod touch
Pre-orders start September 14, available in October
32GB – $299, 64GB – $399
- 4″ retina display (up from 3.5″ in previous models with 1136 x 640 pixels
- 40 hours of music playback, 8 hours of video
- 5 megapixel backside camera
- Front-facing camera now records 720p HD video, takes photos from video
- Includes Siri
- Includes a feature called “the loop” which is built in to the back, meant to support wrist straps
- Comes in 5 colors: black, white, pink, yellow and blue
- Lightning connector
iPod nano
Pre-orders start September 14th
16GB – $149
- Completely redesigned, now includes home button
- Multitouch display
- FM tuner
- Widescreen video
- Pedometer
- Bluetooth
- Lightning connector
- Comes in 7 colors: black, white, purple, pink, yellow, green and blue
