Hasbro’s ‘Clue’ to be adapted into animated series

An animated series adaptation of Hasbro’s Clue is officially in the works!

According to Deadline, Fox Entertainment is currently in the process of developing a brand new animated series based on Clue, the popular board game from Hasbro.

The description for the forthcoming animated series is a bit bare bones. Even so, Fox Entertainment promises a series that will encapsulate the “thrilling and suspenseful dynamics that have made Clue a global sensation for more than seven decades.”

First debuting in 1949, the popular board game begins with a dinner party that quickly turns dark when its host, Mr. Boddy, gets murdered. From there, players, must use clues to figure out which of the party’s guests in attendance might have delivered the fatal blow.

This isn’t the first time Clue has been given the adaptation treatment in Hollywood.

In 1985, the Hasbro board game was adapted for the big screen by Jonathan Lynn. The dark comedy, which has since become a cult classic, starred Eileen Brennan as Mrs. Peacock, Tim Curry as Wadsworth the butler, Madeline Kahn as Mrs. White, Christoper Lloyd as Professor Plum, Michael McKean as Mr. Green, Martin Mull as Colonel Mustard, Lesley Anne Warren as Miss Scarlet, Colleen Camp as Yvette the maid, and Lee Ving as Mr. Boddy.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect to see the Clue animated series debut.
