A Welsh production company hopes that Kickstarter will help them bring the ambitious fantasy adventure film Harmion to life.
Everyone is talking about Kickstarter these days, what with big name actors and producers using the website to appeal to their fans and followers to help fund their projects.
Last month, Rob Thomas and Kristen bell launched the Veronica Mars movie Kickstarter, and with more than 90,000 backers, they have so far raised more than $5.7 million.
Similarly, actor Zach Braff of Scrubs fame recently reached his goal of $2 million to fund his new movie Wish I Was Here.
But in the excitement of these big projects, we can’t forget about the smaller indie movements that are also funded through Kickstarter campaigns.
One such production is Harmion, an ambitious fantasy movie project from the Cardiff-based Long Wednesday Productions, directed by Richard Swingle and produced by Adam Harvey.
To help convince potential donators, the team has already put together a trailer, which shows the ambition and scope of the project, and gives us a great idea of what we could be looking at if they reach their goal.
The film is about an ex-soldier who embarks on a dangerous quest to find a cure for his dying son, and goes on a journey which becomes increasingly fantastical and strange.
Harmion aims to take the bold, exciting world of fantasy and myth and combine it with a powerful, human drama about a troubled man trying to live up to his expectations as a father and a husband.
The script has been penned and the creative development is well underway, and so the production company is now reaching out to interested parties who would like to help the project get off the ground.
Harmion hopes to reach a total of £3,000 (about $4,600), and with two weeks left to go, more than £1,600 has already been raised.
If you are interested in donating, head over to Harmion‘s Kickstarter campaign, and visit their official website to learn more about the movie.
