Hannibal‘s third season has yet to reveal the events immediately following the close of season 2. We guess what your favorite characters were up to!
Hannibal‘s third season, thus far, is far less gore-ified than the preceding two seasons. While it still managed to fold a human being, skinned and free of appendages, into the shape of a heart, the story has chosen to focus on characters’ personal journeys rather than the hunt for serial killers.
This week’s episode, “Secondo,” holds out on the gore as Will continues his journey into the darkest corridors of Hannibal’s mind palace. With Will’s mission and Abigail’s death officially in place, we’re left to wonder the status of the other characters from the series. Sure, there are pictures, videos, and plenty of spoilers out there waiting to be seen. In fact, it was already announced that episode 4, “Apertivo,” will reveal the events immediately following The Red Dinner. Until then, however, here are our predictions for the stories left untold.
Jack Crawford
After Hannibal left him to die in the pantry with severe wounds to the throat, shoulder, and chest, he managed to crawl out in time to expose himself when the medics arrived to the scene. In recovery, Jack Crawford made sure to lie to his doctors just enough to get an early release from the hospital in order to spend as much time with his dear Bella. Her health continues to deteriorate and Jack can only do enough keep her comfortable. The rest of his time is spent tracking Will Graham’s recovery. When Will suddenly departs for Italy, Crawford decides their story is not over yet.
Partially responsible for Will’s mental deterioration, Crawford feels the pull of obligation and heads off to Italy to make sure that Will does not find himself too deeply immersed in Hannibal’s psyche.
Alana Bloom
Falling through a second story window onto the concrete sidewalk left Alana helpless and alone. Her injuries were far more complicated than stitching her body back together ala Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Instead, she required much more physical therapy, but miraculously recovered enough to return to work. Alana took some time away from criminal profiling in the field and took over teaching a course in the FBI training program. She shied away from any topics concerning cannibalism or serial murders that involve either Hannibal or Will Graham’s name.
Jimmy Price and Brian Zeller
Showing up for work the morning following the late night at Hannibal’s place, Jimmy and Brian assume everyone had a bit too much to drink with their fine cuisine and took a late morning. They weren’t invited, serves the rest of them right for indulging a bit too much. They see two options in front of them — finish up some work, or take the morning to grab a coffee, read some magazines, and play ping pong. Thirteen rounds later, no one has bothered to call and they decide to head home.
Three days go by before anyone thinks to alert Jimmy and Brian. After making rounds to see various people in various states of consciousness, they head back to the lab and take on some cases from lesser colleagues. After a few months in their new routine they catch whispers of Will Graham and Jack Crawford heading to Italy. Rudely jipped of a good time once again, they close up their work for a week and head to the Bahamas to get some foreign soil under their own fingernails for a change.
