It’s always fun to hear when stars from our favorite shows take on little side projects. Especially when those side projects crossover to other fandoms!
While we love new content from our favorite fandoms, it’s even more fun when side projects turn into fandom crossovers. The latest event combines two rather strange bedfellows, Grey’s Anatomy and The Mortal Instruments.
According to Wetpaint, Jesse Williams, better known as Jackson Avery to all you Grey’s Anatomy fans, took on a small side project in addition to his duties on the beloved medical drama. He has recently completed work recording the audiobook for The Bane Chronicles: What Really Happened in Peru, written by Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan. The book, based on The Mortal Instruments, tells the story of just why Magnus Bane can’t go to Peru. Check out this description from Cassandra Clare’s website:
There are good reasons Peru is off-limits to Magnus Bane. Follow Magnus’s Peruvian escapades as he drags his fellow warlocks Ragnor Fell and Catarina Loss into trouble, learns several instruments (which he plays shockingly), dances (which he does shockingly), and disgraces his host nation by doing something unspeakable to the Nazca Lines.
Williams has this to say about the experience of recording: “Because there’s so much drama and tension on Grey’s Anatomy, it’s refreshing to do something a little lighter, funnier, a little more varied.” We can definitely understand the need to escape the intense dramatics over at Sloane Grey Memorial, and what a better way than by utilizing that remarkable voice?
Jesse Williams’ velvety voice lends quite well to the audiobook format, and this one is jumping straight to the top of our lists. Both the e-book and the audiobook are available right now on Amazon (and for a VERY reasonable price too), so make sure to check it out!
What do you think about this fandom crossover? Will you be checking out this new series?
