When we last saw Grey’s Anatomy, Catherine Avery had essentially bought her son Seattle Grace. Now spoilers reveal Jackson won’t be taking his new role lightly.
Jesse Williams spoke with TV Line and teases that Grey’s Anatomy fans should expect to see some “pretty significant” changes coming to Seattle Grace.
They also shouldn’t expect Jackson to be leaping for joy over his new appointment thanks to his mother Catherine Avery. Since his start at Seattle Grace, Jackson has been trying to create a career without leaning on his famous name, which is part of the reason he chose to specialize in plastics because it wasn’t expecting of someone with his background.
Now he’s being confronted head on with what he’s been trying to avoid. Williams described it as both a leap forward and leap back for his character. He explained, “He wants to be taken seriously and to make his own name for himself, but he’s also getting handed a responsibility that is a result of his legacy and his family, which is what he set out from the very beginning [to avoid]. So that creates some inner turmoil for him, and maybe a little bit of guilt. But he’s going to have to make it work or get run over. And I think we’re going to see that struggle over the course of the next few episodes.”
The Grey’s Anatomy actor also revealed that Jackson will be seeing more drama in his personal life, specifically related to his relationship with April. After the pair’s messy breakup they have been trying to repair their friendship as well as move onto other relationships. However it’s all gotten quite messy lately and it’s clear that Jackson is still quite hurt. According to Williams, “Something is going to have to get figured out with April and Jackson. I don’t know about a resolution, but two ships are going to try to meet at some point by the end of the season.”
