Here are the highlights from Grey’s Anatomy season 10, episode 5 “I Bet It Stung”:
- Meredith and Derek slowly adjust back into working with two small children. Having Callie around definitely helps them keep things together.
- Jo helps Cristina take care of the Alex’s Dad, and Jo tries to convince him to talk to his father and see if he’s changed. Alex doesn’t think it’s a good idea considering their last encounter.
- Meredith jumps on Cristina’s case even though Cristina is surprised to find that she’s ready for the surgery. Bailey is upset to find that Meredith has stolen the case out from under her nose. But Meredith cheerily reminds her that she named her son Bailey.
- Arizona can’t figure out why Leah is being so nice to her. Then panics when she remembers Leah being in her apartment but can’t remember if she slept with her or not! UH OH!
- Stephanie worries about making a first impression on Jackson’s mother. This is basically ruined when Catherine walks in on them in the on-call room.
- Callie tells Owen that she’s busy taking care of her sister wife Meredith to eat in the morning. When Owen is confused she explains that the three of them are apparently in a relationship now.
- Apparently Owen and Emma (who he met at the gala) are at the point where she makes food for him to bring to work!
- When Catherine comes to visit Weber he and Bailey show off all of his progress. The interns interrupt to give him treatment. Catherine talks to Bailey in the hall and worries that Weber is depressed and should be further along in his recovery.
- Weber defends Jackson when Catherine freaks out on him. She’s worried that Weber shouldn’t be taken care of by interns. And that Stephanie is causing Jackson to make poor decisions.
- Meredith asks Derek if he can pick up the kids from daycare so she can focus on the surgery with Cristina. Derek says he can’t because of the important neurosurgeons visiting from out of town. But he suggests she ask Callie to do it instead.
- Callie and Owen work on a sensitive case in which the patient’s sister is a donor baby!
- Because Callie is in surgery until 6 she can’t pick up the kids and Meredith worries that Zola will think she forgot about her.
- Jo tells Alex that she’s worried about his father being discharged. She tells him that she badly wished for a father growing up. But Alex already knows his is a “dirtbag” and doesn’t care what happens to him.
- Catherine gets even more upset with Stephanie when she fails to give a patient a catheter before his bladder explodes. Meaning that she now has to give him surgery to repair the damage.
- The daycare calls Meredith with news that Zola had an accident and has to get stitches. So Meredith rushes off to go check on her.
- Jo is disappointed when Alex’s father declines to go to the rehab center she arranged for him. He says he can’t do it because he doesn’t like to disappoint people. So Jo tries one last time to get Alex to talk to his father but it doesn’t work.
- Cristina’s patient goes into heart failure so they have to rush her to surgery early. When Meredith gets a message that the surgery was pushed up Alex tells her to go ahead and he’ll stay with Zola. She worries that it’ll make her like her mother putting surgery before her child. But Alex convinces her that she’s a good mother.
- Meredith arrives at the OR only to find that Cristina wants Bailey to do the surgery instead. Cristina is worried that Meredith is too focused on her kids to be fully prepared.
- Weber wants the interns to use him to learn how to properly treat a patient, but Catherine is worried that he isn’t getting treated like he needs to be.
- Meredith confronts Cristina for kicking her off the surgery. Cristina argues that she was late, unprepared, and preoccupied. Although Meredith doesn’t want to be like her mother, Cristina says that’s what made her a great surgeon. This might be the end for the two best friends!
- Callie asks Arizona for her apartment back because she can’t take care of anyone anymore. Leah offers Arizona a place to crash. She explains that they didn’t do anything wrong, she just made sure that Arizona was okay and they hung out. And is crushed to find out that Arizona doesn’t remember any of it.
- Stephanie confronts Catherine about what happened and tries to set the record straight. It may have actually worked.
- Derek gets home to find a frustrated Meredith who is freaked out because Zola didn’t get her princess tea party, Callie moved out, there’s no food in the house, and she didn’t get to do her surgery. She blames Derek for not helping her out!
