Here are the highlights from Grey’s Anatomy season 10, episode 11 “Man on the Moon”:
- Derek and Callie continue to work on their project, while Meredith and Stephanie work on their first 3D printed portal vein transplant. Meanwhile Cristina and Shane focus on some extra-curricular activities in the on-call room.
- Callie and Arizona try to get back to normal and make plans for April’s wedding shower.
- Weber heads home after a long stay in the hospital for which he credits Bailey getting him better. The moment is ruined when Bailey’s therapist notices her counting as a stress reducer.
- Matthew meets April’s sister for the first time and things get awkward when they meet Jackson.
- Jimmy (Alex’s father) shows up at the hospital because he’s having withdrawals and asks for Jo’s help. At first she tells him that the opportunity has passed – until he literally passes out in front of her.
- While Matthew and Jackson head to the hospital together they witness an accident where two men argue over a taxi. When one jumps in the taxi to steal it he also gets the other’s tie stuck in the door. And the taxi starts driving off!
- To save the man Matthew preforms an emergency tracheotomy using a straw from the cafe.
- Cristina gets upset when Owen decides he wants to air her surgery live and doesn’t warn her about it before asking the parents. She’s worried about something going wrong during the surgery but agrees to do it anyways.
- Things get tense in Callie and Derek’s experiment when the patient complains there hasn’t been any progress with the sensors. Derek worries that he’s not saying the right things to encourage her to get the robot arm to work.
- When Owen checks in on Jo he tells her to admit Jimmy despite his history with Alex.
- April takes her sisters to the hospital to show them where she works and almost instantly regrets it. She’s surprised when Matthew and Jackson show up with the taxi patient. Jackson angrily explains how Matthew preformed the emergency tracheotomy and apparently didn’t do a very good job.
- Alex is not pleased to learn that his father is in the hospital, even less so when Jimmy admits that he remembers Alex is his son.
- Bailey learns that there’s no easy way out of her therapy.
- In surgery, April admits to Jackson that her sisters are driving her crazy. Even though she wants to hide out in surgery he encourages her to go spend time with them.
- Cristina and Meredith preform their surgeries at the same time – both which are using new technology from the 3D printer. While Cristina has trouble with her conduit, Meredith’s portal vein goes in well without trouble. After surgery Cristina isn’t sure if the conduit will work.
- Meredith is shocked when she asks Ross “How’s it going” in the elevator and he gives her attitude. He also storms off without explaining his actions.
- The Kepner sisters are annoyed when they’re trying to prepare for the wedding shower and can’t find April. Arizona warns them that she’s a surgeon and their lives are dictated by the hospital.
- While Bailey is working on her therapy she’s surprised to see Weber walk in while she’s crying. He may mess things up for her when he touches her tray of instruments even though the therapist said not to.
- Stephanie is crushed to find that their test sheep crashed while she was on a break. But Meredith tells her that they will find out what went wrong and try again. She cheers her up by saying that progress looks like a lot of failures until they succeed.
- For a moment Meredith and Cristina seem to have a normal conversation about how their surgeries went. When Meredith brings up how Shane seems different – aggressive and mean – Cristina gets offended and they argue.
- Jo doesn’t’t know how to deal with Jimmy when he starts getting violent but Alex does.
- Derek tries one more time to get his patient to use the robot arm – he tells her instead of focusing on the movements to think about her husband and it works!
- April’s shower seems to be going well until her sisters start talking about April’s bad luck with men. She freaks out and tells them to stop treating her like an ugly ducking and fires them as her bridesmaids. Arizona, Cristina, and Meredith are surprised when she announces they will be her bridesmaids.
- Jackson confronts Matthew about what he did to the patient which took him 8 hours to fix in surgery. But Matthew says he has no problem with Jackson and tells him to come to the wedding for April.
- Weber tells Bailey that he’s there to help her get through her disease and gets her to take the medication the therapist suggested.
- Back at home, Arizona and Callie are fighting about an earlier fight so they resolve not to talk about their problems so much and focus on reconnecting.
