Fox has released the first official trailer for their Gotham TV series, which will take a look at detective Jim Gordon’s early life.
In Gotham’s first trailer, we see a young Bruce Wayne after his parents have been killed. Ben McKenzie reveals that he’s detective Jim Gordon and that he’ll find out who killed his parents.
Update: An extended Gotham trailer has been released featuring tons of new footage:
“GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.”
Southland actor Ben McKenzie will star as Jim Gordon in the Batman-based TV series, and Fox recently announced who will be playing The Penguin, Alfred, Captain Essen and Gordon’s fiancée Barbara Kean.
Robin Lord Taylor, who had a small role in The Walking Dead, will be playing Oswald Cobblepot – better known as The Penguin. Camelot actor Sean Pertwee will play Bruce Wayne’s beloved butler, Alfred, while Zabryna Guevara will portray Gordon’s police captain.
Jada Pinkett Smith will be playing the character Fish Mooney, “an imposing, hotheaded and notoriously sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner with street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book who is not one to be crossed.”
Being Human’s Erin Richards has been cast as Gordon’s fiancée, Barbara Kean. As seen in the trailer The Riddler and Catwoman will be included as well.
Gotham seems interesting and we’ll be sure to keep an eye on the show as it progresses. The Batman based show will premiere on Fox this fall.
