Nick Offerman has revealed his Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson’s surprising election leanings.
Parks and Recreation is unfortunately not on the air anymore — otherwise, we’re sure they’d have scathing commentary ready for the 2016 election.
In fact, this tweet from Nick Offerman will seriously make you wish for a Parks and Rec reunion special along the lines of the one Will and Grace pulled off a few weeks back.
But where Megan Mullally’s Karen was a staunch Trump supporter, her husband Nick Offerman explains on Twitter why the anti-government man’s man Ron Swanson would ultimately vote Hillary Clinton:
I am frequently asked how Ron Swanson would weigh in on this election. I was able to contact a source close to Ron and here is the result: pic.twitter.com/2A0JWEgpgu

As Offerman explains, “Ron wouldn’t think much of Trump. First of all, he’d be very sad that a businessman entered politics … Second, he went bankrupt 4-6 times. [And] Trump disrespects women. Ron likes women. Because they are human beings and deserve to be treated with basic dignity.”

While Clinton is the epitome of a “career politician,” which Ron obviously dislikes, “he would certainly vote Hillary over Trump, if he had to choose between the two. Or he would write in Merle Haggard or Willie Nelson.”
On the surface, Ron would be as anti-Clinton as they come. But considering how much his fellow Parks and Rec character Leslie Knope admires Hillary (plus the fact that Amy Poehler famously brought her to life on SNL), and how much Ron secretly loves Leslie, perhaps it makes sense that Ron would grudgingly cast his vote in her favor.
Either way, we really need that Parks and Rec election special to become a reality now, please and thank you.
