Netflix delivered some exciting Gilmore Girls revival news at the summer TCA presentation! Check out the trailer here!

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will consist of four 90-minute installments, each focusing on the four seasons beginning with Winter and ending with Fall. The series will debut on November 25!

Here is the official U.S. trailer from Netflix!

Be on the look out for some staple Gilmore treats along the way. Stills tease that town meetings, crazy Stars Hollow festivals, and the presence of many, many familiar faces are going to be featured along the journey.

One face that will be sorely missed is that of Edward Herrmann, who passed away in December 2014. The revival will pick up in real time for the Gilmore universe and will address his parting.

We were hoping that the series would be released in installments rather than all at once. Staggering the release of the episodes makes for a sore-binging experience, but grants one of Amy Sherman-Palladino’s wishes for the revival. Instead of rushing through the seasons to get to those final four words, the world will have a chance to take a stroll through the town square and enjoy a few more hours in the Gilmore world. It’s meant to be a rewarding experience and a second chance for fans as much as the creators and cast to return to a special world.

Sherman-Palladino supported that sentiment at the TCA presentation saying that it is a “journey to the last four words.”

Some other fun tidbits revealed at the TCA Summer panel are included here!

  1. The cast agrees that returning to the set was as if no time had passed.
  2. Palladino comments that family matters are never fully resolved and that there is plenty of conflict left to fuel the series.
  3. On what it was like to step into the future, Palladino says that writing adult-Rory “evolved the mother-daughter stories.”
  4. Is there room for more Gilmore Girls? “This is what it is right now. We throw them out to the universe,” says Palladino.
  5. Amy Sherman-Palladino really did try anything to get Netflix to release the episodes separately. They declined.
  6. Scott Patterson comments that the Austin Television Festival (ATX) really drove home the fact that they could pull this reunion off. Read Hypable’s full coverage of ATX here and here!
  7. Everyone remained tight-lipped about Rory and Lorelai’s love lives. All questions will be answered by the end of the episodes.
  8. Incorporating the death of Ed Herrmann into the series pushed the urgency of some of the character’s story arcs, especially Lorelai.
  9. Gilmore Girls‘s is described by Lauren Graham as smart, well-written, and comforting in a time of great discomfort. Patterson recalls meeting soldiers who watched the series as a unit.
  10. Finally, the Melissa McCarthy back and forth gets boiled down to a story that spun wildly out of control. Does it truly matter now that she is back?

One thing is certainly clear — this series means a great deal not only to the fans who cherish it, but it means almost more the cast and crew who made it possible!
