This week’s Geek Gifts is all about relaxin’. Agent Carter and The 100 would want you to drink some coffee and read a good book.
Whether you like to wear your fan pride on your sleeve, or you like something a little more subtle, Geek Gifts has plenty of options for you. Suggestions are always welcome, so leave your favorites in the comments below!
Geek Gifts is a weekly feature article written by Donya Abramo and Karen Rought. With every installment, the duo picks out a fandom-related item they’ve recently come across and describes it in loving detail. There are no product placements here. We only talk about items we’re excited to share with the rest of the world.
Your Geek Gifts come in a variety of ways, be it jewelry, clothing, games, or something else entirely. We strive to remain unbiased, and we plan on constantly expanding our own horizons as we search for new and interesting pieces. The only requirement is that it must give us the burning need to open our wallets and throw money at its creator.
It feels like an eternity since we last saw Peggy Carter on our screens, but finally our favorite, no-nonsense, British SSR agent is back. We’ve donned our red lipstick and nail polish in honor — which may or may not be the screen accurate version, don’t look at me like that — and are settled in for the remainder of the season. And, lets be real, the anticipation has been palpable.
(Especially after the news that it’s going to tie into both Doctor Strange and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)
Sure, we’ve swapped out familiarity of the New York streets for sunny and glamorous Los Angeles, but we can’t help but look back in fondness at some of the locales and characters we’ve left behind. Okay, Angie will be making a brief appearance, with a twist, but let us reminisce just a little more.
This art print is perfect for any Agent Carter fan. It has an almost iconic retro design, with the colors from Angie’s uniform, as well as featuring a nod to the SSR themselves. And, really, no room should be spared from your nerdiness — kitchen included. Besides, a framed version would double up as a handy, quick-grab weapon against all those pesky Hydra agents.
The 100 returns this week, and we couldn’t be more excited for the show to begin its journey through the third season. Merch for this series is a little tough to find on Etsy because you have to be specific about what you’re searching for. Typing in “The 100” yields results for more 100-count items than you could possible imagine. Buttons and corks and beeswax, oh my!
But if you’re clever (or you go with the suggested search keywords), you can find something special, like this bookmark, for instance! It’s made with stock paper, so it’s quite durable. It’s also magnetic, meaning your bookmark won’t fall out when you bring your book around your house, into town, on vacation. Pretty much anywhere you go, it’ll go, too.
Best yet, though, this bookmark features Clarke’s infamous glare. She’s beat up and covered in dirt, and when she looks at you with those eyes, she’ll make you feel guilty enough to sit down and read that whole book in one sitting. “What do you mean you don’t have time to finish this chapter? Are the Grounders trying to kill you? Are the Mountain Men trying to kill you? Is literally the entire planet trying to kill you? No, I didn’t think so. Read the damn book.”
Uh. I seem to have a guilty conscience about not reading enough. Moving on.
Will you be enjoying a good cup of coffee while you sit down to read your next book?
