One of our most anticipated films of 2012 has found distribution! Focus Features will distribute a brand new adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, from director Joe Wright (Atonement), for release in late 2012.
Joe Wright has amassed a fantastic cast which includes frequent collaborator Keira Knightly in the titular role, as well as Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Kelly Macdonald (Harry Potter), Matthew Macfadyen (Pride & Prejudice), Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter), Emily Watson (Punch-Drunk Love), Olivia Williams (Hanna) and many more!
Here’s a synopsis of those unfamiliar with this classic novel:
The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the humanheart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna (Ms. Knightley) questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.
Filming on the project is set to begin later this month in both the U.K. and Russia.
Joe Wright has yet to disappoint us, and with the return of many of his past collaborators, we’re very excited about this one! Areyou?
