Rooney Mara and Channing Tatum are starring in director Steven Soderbergh’s next film Side Effects and its first trailer has just been released.
This looks to be one star-studded film, as it also includes Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Vinessa Shaw. What once was named The Bitter Pill, the title of this film has changed back and forth and looks to finally be coming out officially as Side Effects. Soderbergh and Tatum have been teaming up lately, recently with their smash hit Magic Mike.
In the trailer we see Mara and Tatum’s characters in a relationship, which seems to have its ups and downs as Mara’s character is seen downing pills and has a cabinet full of other medications.

The tagline is “In some instances, death may occur,” and we assume this film will center around prescription drug abuse and a mysterious death of one of the key characters in Soderbergh’s next film. Scott Z. Burns has written the screenplay for Side Effects and you may be familiar with his work in Open Road and Contagion.
We loved Rooney Mara in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network, and this trailer looks to have a similar style. We look forward to seeing how this film about prescription drug use and Mara’s character’s inability to deal with her husband’s release from prison plays out.
Side Effects’ synopsis:
Centers on a troubled and depressed woman (Mara) who is taking serious amounts of prescription drugs to deal with the anxiety surrounding the pending release of her husband (Tatum) from prison.
