First ‘Fault in Our Stars’ clip released: Gus explains his metaphor

The first clip from The Fault in Our Stars premiered Sunday afternoon during the 2014 MTV Movie Awards pre-show.

Author John Green and stars Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, and Nat Wolff were on hand tonight to promote the film.

In the clip, Gus asks Hazel to spend some time outside of support group. The adorable scene takes place just outside of the church that houses the Literal Heart of Jesus. Gus pulls out a cigarette, and Hazel yells at him for using it. He then explains his metaphor.

Woodley and Elgort play Hazel and Gus, the film’s two main characters, in The Fault in Our Stars. They also had big roles in the adaptation of Veronica Roth’s Divergent last month.

The Fault in Our Stars will hit theaters Friday, June 6 in the United States.
