Entertainment Weekly has begun an all-out bracket war to determine the best Young Adult novel of all time.
Sixty-four of the best YA novels were chosen from a pool of 300 to start the competition. Some of the titles chosen include: The Giver, Holes, The Book Thief, To Kill a Mockingbird, the Harry Potter series, the Twilight series, and Ender’s Game. There is a wide variety of titles, both old and new. The full bracket can be seen here.
The battle is already in the second round, with polls for the round closing on Sunday, November 10, at 1 p.m. ET. One of the major upsets in the first round of voting was the elimination of the Twilight saga. The link to the voting page is: http://popwatch.ew.com/2013/11/07/best-ya-novel-round-two/
There are some heartbreaking match-ups, such as The Mortal Instruments vs The Hunger Games series or The Fault in Our Stars vs the Divergent series, but there can only be one winner! Make sure to head on over to vote for your favourite novels/fandoms. Feel free to discuss in the comments your decisions, and express any feelings (be it rage, sadness, or pure joy) you may have about the pairings and results.
Editor’s note: Hypable has run similar competitions we’ve called “BattleShips” tournaments.
