Promoting her latest film The Perks of Being a Wallflower, actress Emma Watson appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show this week and got on the subject of guys in England versus those in the United States.
“English guys are really put together, and they dress real well and they’re really well mannered,” explained Watson. “But they’re also very restrainted. Usually in the whole courting situation I’m used to being – first of all – ignored for the first two months of the ritual. Then maybe they’ll acknowledge my presence, then they’ll probably be a little mean to me, and then maybe – whatever.”
She continued to the amused audience and host, “And then I arrive in America, and I can remember getting into Brown and this guy being like, ‘I like you, you’re great, let’s go out on a date. Let’s do it.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m sorry, what just happened?’ This is just a huge culture shock to me – they’re just very open and very straight forward.”
Watson does have one reservation, however. “They wear flip flops and I’m not sure if I like that.”
