A sequel to Edge of Tomorrow is almost definitely coming, and according to Doug Liman, it’s gonna be pretty great.
Edge of Tomorrow, starring Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise, was a bit of a surprise hit when it arrived in cinemas in 2014.
Based on the Japanese graphic novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, Edge of Tomorrow (alias Live. Die. Repeat.) was a slam dunk action thriller with a great premise and a standout performance by Emily Blunt, and — very unsurprisingly — Warner Bros. has been chomping at the bit for a sequel.

In an interview with Collider, director Doug Liman confirms that a sequel is indeed coming; “We’re just trying to find a time to schedule it, between my schedule and Emily’s and Tom’s.”
Not an easy feat, certainly, but Liman seems pretty confident that they can make it work, fueled by the support of eager fans, who “continually came up to Tom and myself and Emily and told us how much they loved the movie and would we ever consider a sequel” until they actually sat down to figure out a possible plot.
Now, they have a “great story” from Chris McQuarrie (who also worked on the first movie), with a script written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse.
As Collider cautions, however, we might have to wait a while for this sequel, as Liman himself just began filming Chaos Walking with Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley.
