Bad news, Drake fans— it looks like the rapper won’t be dropping Certified Lover Boy this month after all.
Drake fans have been counting down the days until the release of the rapper’s highly anticipated sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy. Unfortunately, it looks like those itching to give the record a listen will have to wait just a bit longer than they originally thought.
On Wednesday (January 20), the “Hotline Bling” artist took to his Instagram to announce that he has had to delay the release of the album.
Unlike many planned releases as of late, the album delay has nothing to do with the pandemic, but rather with the fact that the rapper recently underwent surgery and has since been focusing on recovery from the procedure.
“I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery,” the rapper wrote via his stories. “I’m blessed to be back on my feet feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB won’t be dropping in January. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2021.”
Drake’s message notably did not clue fans in to when in the year we might expect to be able to get our hands on Certified Lover Boy.
For now, it seems like we’ll just have to wait for word from the artist with regards to when he plans to release the highly anticipated follow up to 2018’s Scorpion.
