It’s not even been a month since Doctor Who ended its 10th season and we already know who will be playing the 13th Doctor! Welcome Jodie Whittaker to the T.A.R.D.I.S.!
Jodie Whittaker has been announced as the next Doctor, filling in Capaldi’s shoes as lucky number 13. The announcement came during a TV special which aired directly after the Wimbledon men’s final.

Whittaker is well known for her role as Beth in Broadchurch, and will be Doctor Who‘s first female actor to portray the Doctor in 54 years. She’s studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and made her acting debut in The Storm, at Shakespeare’s Globe in London.
Doctor Who will introduce Whittaker at the end of the Christmas special, where Capaldi’s Doctor is slated to regenerate after an adventure with the first Doctor, played by David Bradley.
Previous showrunner Steven Moffat, who is currently working with new showrunner Chris Chibnall for the transition, says this regeneration is going to be “very different,” so we’ll see what that means! Is it because the Doctor is now finally a woman?!
And after skipping out on the last few years, Doctor Who is returning to San Diego Comic-Con next weekend! We’ll be there for all the excitement so be sure to stay tuned to Hypable for more Whovian news.
