It looks like Hamilton star Phillipa Soo will be joining her castmate Lin-Manuel Miranda in another project. This time it’s for Disney’s Moana.
Phillipa Soo currently stars as Eliza Schuyler, the wife of Alexander Hamilton in the broadway musical Hamilton. Her current on stage husband is Lin-Manuel Miranda, although it’s being reported that he will depart the role soon. Meanwhile, Miranda has already been writing new songs for Disney’s Moana.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Soo will be playing a villager of Motunui, Moana’s home island in the animated film.
Moana also stars Auli’i Cravalho as Moana and Dwayne Johnson as the demigod Maui. So far this movie seems to be shaping up really well and we can’t wait to hear more about the cast and plot details as the release gets closer!
The official synopsis is:
“Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast South Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped — and no one today knows why.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes Moana, a sweeping, CG-animated adventure about a spirited teenager who sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master wayfinder and fulfill her ancestors’ unfinished quest. During her journey, she meets the once-mighty demi-god Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), and together, they traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous fiery creatures and impossible odds.”
