The newest trailer for Disney’s Encanto invites moviegoers of all ages to step into the enchanting world of the extraordinary Madrigal family.
Set in South America, in a wondrous place where magic thrives, the newest trailer for Disney’s Encanto sets up the legend of how magic came to fill the town the Madrigal family calls home.
In Encanto, magic doesn’t just inhabit the land and the family’s casita— it also lives within each child, who has been blessed with a gift unique to them— each child except Mirabel.
“I’m not super strong like Luisa, or effortlessly perfect like señorita perfecta Isabela, but mama, why am I the only one that didn’t get a gift?” Laments Mirabel.
She may be the only one without a unique magical gift, but when the family home is threatened, it quickly becomes clear that Mirabel may be their only hope.

The new trailer also offers up a first look at Mirabel’s uncle, Bruno, who is voiced by actor John Leguizamo.
Having been gifted the power to see the future, Bruno’s honest, often doomsaying predictions aren’t always well received but the rest of the family. As a result, he disappeared long ago, and has become the uncle nobody ever speaks about.
In a statement announcing his involvement, Leguizamo spoke of how excited he is to join the voice cast of Encanto, and also teased a musical number for his character written by Hamilton vet Lin-Manuel Miranda. (Miranda has written all the music set to be featured in the forthcoming animated film.)
“I was so pumped to be asked to the party,” said Leguizamo. “Lin-Manuel [Miranda] wrote me a rap, and I flipped out! Plus, this is such a beautiful story set in Colombia. It’s a first in so many ways. The magic is enchanting, the comedy is so sharp, and the world created is irresistible.”
Leguizamo joins a star-studded voice cast lead by Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Stephanie Beatriz who plays Mirabel.
Others who lend their voices to the animated Disney film along with Beatriz include María Cecilia Botero, Wilmer Valderrama, Adassa, Diane Guerrero, Mauro Castillo, Angie Cepeda, Jessica Darrow, Rhenzy Feliz and Carolina Gaitan.
Behind the camera, Zootopia vets Byron Howard and Jared Bush serve as directors on the movie, along with Charise Castro Smith, who co-directed. In addition, Bush and Smith teamed to write the script.
Disney’s Encanto hits theaters on November 24, 2021.
