Teen pop star turned hip-hop/soul singer Demi Lovato recently released a hot new single, “Heart Attack.” Take a listen in to what her new sound is like in this dance-club smash!

Demi Lovato premiered “Heart Attack” on the radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest on February 24.

The song seems to feed off of the popularity of artists such as Ke$ha and Lady Gaga. It starts off slow, but picks up with a quick auto-tuned “ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-tack.” From there on out, the song is a non-stop express ride to the finish, clocking in right over 3:30.

The former Disney Princess used to have a pop-rock sound, and wrote all of the lyrics to her songs. However, as her career evolved, she passed on the majority of the lyric writing to big time producers. Regardless, “Lovatics” have stuck with Demi through all of the ups and downs of her career.

“Heart Attack” marks another milestone in Lovato’s development as an artist, in that she seems to be moving away from her hip-hop album “Unbroken” to more heavy beats and electronica influenced tunes.

Lovato got her start on Disney Channel, where she starred in the short As The Bell Rings. Soon after, she was given a simultaneous record deal and lead role in the Jonas Brothers Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock.

During a brief time of adjustment, Lovato was admitted into rehab for bulimia, bipolar disorder, and depression. She bounced back with her single, “Skyscraper,” which speaks about her struggles adjusting to her overnight fame.

She most recently has been on TV as a judge on the Fox singing competition show The X Factor.

Her full fourth studio album, currently untitled, is set to release this spring. Other singles sung by Lovato include “Give Your Heart a Break,” “Skyscraper,” and “Don’t Forget.”
