Now that you’ve eaten all that Halloween candy and gotten the fake webs out of your hair, ’tis the season for streaming your favorite Christmas movies on Netflix!
Daylight Saving Time has us all confused about what time it is and it’s getting dark earlier than we expect, but that also means the holidays are coming!
The holidays mean pumpkin spice everything, Christmas decorations hitting shelves the day after Halloween, popcorn in those decorative tins and, best of all, all kinds of Christmas movies. But we also know leaving the house during the holidays can be a bit of a hassle, so we’ve gotten you a little gift: Christmas movies that are currently available on Netflix in 2018.
‘Love Actually’
Whether it’s a movie you love or love to hate-watch, ‘Love Actually’ tops our list. We feel it in our fingers, we feel it in our toes. Christmas is all around us and so the feeling grows. Plus, how can you not enjoy Hugh Grant’s dancing?
‘Bad Santa’ & ‘Bad Santa 2’
If your family gathers together for Christmas, then it’s good to have films with a little something for everyone. Billy Bob Thornton’s naughty antics are perfect for that someone in your family who never quite makes it onto the “nice” list.
‘A Christmas Prince’
‘iZombie’’s Rose McIver is in a Netflix original Christmas movie and there’s a prince and a castle and romance and snow. Do we really need to say more? We don’t. Grab the popcorn and the tissues and meet us on the couch.
‘A Very Murray Christmas’
Bill Murray’s hilarious “variety show” style Christmas special featuring tons of celebrity guests from Chris Rock to Miley Cyrus. It’s definitely awkward at times, but that’s part of its charm. Actually, now that we think about it, isn’t that what the holidays with the family are all about?
‘In Bruges’
Sometimes you need a good dark comedy about hitmen at Christmastime, especially when it’s Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes. Besides, haven’t we all felt a little…murderous…when the whole family’s around?
‘White Christmas’
One of the most charming classic Christmas movies, and it’s a musical, to boot! New Christmas movies are great, but there’s something extra special about watching older movies with your family, knowing it’s been a tradition for decades.
‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’
Somehow, they actually managed to take the already amazing animated Grinch movie and create an even better live-action remake! Jim Carrey’s interpretation of the Grinch is one of the funniest things you’ll see all Christmas break, and Whoville will leave you desperate for all things Christmas-y
‘Dreamworks’ Home for the Holidays’
Looking to add something new to your holiday movie roster, this year? Check out one of Netflix’s original holiday movies, streaming in December. Dreamworks’ Home for the Holidays looks especially fun, and features celebrity guests (animated) including Kelly Clarkson.
Speaking of Netflix Originals, the streamer is launching a copy of brand new Christmas movies in November 2018.
Before you ask, we did try to add ‘Die Hard’ to this list, because we all know it’s a Christmas movie no matter what Bruce Willis says, but Netflix let us down on that one. ‘Gremlins’ was up last year, so we hope it’ll be back next year, and we also looked for ‘Scrooged’ but ole’ Ebeneezer was nowhere to be found. Lucky for you, Netflix updates their roster all the time, so they may be available to watch sooner than you think.
We’re sure you also have some holiday favorites that are a must watch during the holidays.
