The Voice may lose its only female coach, Christina Aguilera, when it returns for its fourth season in January, but it might not be for too long.
MTV News, AOL’s Music Blog and Perez Hilton are reporting that Aguilera told Billboard.biz, she would be taking a hiatus from the show after season 3 because it had kept her “away from my heart, which is creating my own music.” The Billboard.biz story seems to have been pulled, however, as the link is showing an error message.
“It’s been a joy to be a part of other people’s journey, to be able to inspire and be a part of new singers coming up in this business. But I was starting to get really worried and concerned that I wouldn’t have the time to go and be an artist again,” Aguilera reportedly said.
But if the pop star were to leave NBC’s singing competition, it may not be for long.
“I’ll probably be back,” the pop star reportedly said. “I just need to do my thing for a minute then I can come back and be that much better of a coach.”
Earlier this week, The Voice Producer Mark Burnett told Billboard the singing competition would continue airing even if some or all the coaches had to take a break.
“Here’s the fact we decided: When you’ve been on this show, that’s your chair for life,” Burnett told Billboard. “So if they have to tour and someone comes in for a season and then goes out for a season, comes back for a season, there will never be anyone getting replaced, ever.”
Xtina is working on her upcoming sixth English-language album, Lotus and will release the first single, “Your Body,” later this week.
