Tumblr has released its yearly report, showing what celebs were most popular in 2015. The Marvel, Supernatural and Hunger Games stars came out on top!
What would fandom be without Tumblr? This much-loved platform allows fans to share their art, speculate about their favorite books, films and TV shows, and develop hilarious in-jokes and ongoing conversations about the things they love.
In 2015, Tumblr users loved certain fandoms in particular. Chris Evans tops the list of most reblogged actors, and sure, he’s Captain America and evidently the MCU’s most shippable character… but let’s be real. It’s cause we all want to know what he smells like, isn’t it?
Here are the top 10 lists of actors and actresses most often mentioned on Tumblr:
Actors:
1. Chris Evans
2. Jensen Ackles
3. Chris Pratt
4. Tom Hiddleston

While the actresses list actually reflects a pretty broad variety of fandoms and genres, the top 10 list of actors is almost exclusively occupied by Marvel and Supernatural stars — and is probably a good indicator of how vocal the shipper communities are on Tumblr.
This becomes even more apparent when you see the list of most reblogged ships:

We love seeing all the same-sex couples (canon as well as fanon) on this list, because not only is it indicative of fandom in general, but it’s also a pretty clear indication of what fans are looking for in their favorite works of fiction.
Shipping is a huge part of fandom, and it makes sense that Tumblr is the natural home for shippers: You can be creative, you can theorize about tiny details, and you can find others that are as excited as you about a particular pairing — without worrying about outsiders trying to slam you down with non-arguments like “it’s not canon” or something silly like that.

Of course, there is plenty of real-life shipping going on on Tumblr, too; luckily, like with anything else on Tumblr, you can choose to be a part of these fandoms or you can choose not to be, and you don’t need to judge or spread hate. What happens on Tumblr stays on Tumblr, right?
The most popular meme of 2015 was Pepe the Frog, the most reblogged song was “Uptown Funk,” and the most viral Tumblr account was Every Single Word, a blog dedicated to posting “every single word spoken by a person of color” in mainstream films.
