Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of Carrie Fisher’s death, and the internet was abuzz with people honoring her memory.
Carrie Fisher meant a lot to many of us, so it’s no surprise the internet was full of tributes to her memory. However, it was hearing from those closest to her, like her daughter Billie Lourd and her on-screen brother Mark Hamill, that were the most moving.

Hamill took to Twitter to commemmorate his space-sister, posting pictures of the two and an image illustrated by Lindsay van Ekelenburg of a saintly-looking Fisher (holding her beloved dog Gary, of course). He captioned the images with his quote from The Last Jedi, “No one’s ever really gone,” along with the hashtags #AlwaysWithUs and #CarrieOnForever.

Lourd chose to honor her mother’s memory in a more unique way, traveling to Norway to see the Northern Lights. According to Instagram, Fisher was always fascinated by them, but the two never got to see the phenomenon together.
She topped the post off with a slightly-hidden message. Using emoticons (a fave tweeting style for Fisher), Lourd wrote, “She drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra,” which was how Fisher said she wanted her death reported in her book Wishful Drinking.
We miss you, Carrie.
