Bradley James is sticking with Netflix for his next project.
The Merlin and Damien vet has scored the lead role in The Liberator.
According to Deadline, the new Netflix title is a four-part animated World War II drama.
Though described as an animated series, The Liberator will actually use a combination of state-of-the-art CGI and live-action performance in order to bring the story to life.
Based on the the book The Liberator: One World War II Soldier’s 500-Day Odyssey by Alex Kershaw, the series is based on the true story and follows U.S. Army officer Felix Sparks and his infantry unit as they fought for over 500 days to liberate Europe.
James will play Felix Sparks in the upcoming series written by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive). A cowboy from Arizona, Sparks is the leader of the 157th Field Infantry Regiment E Company — a group that became one of the most decorated combat units of the second world war.
Sparks is described as being “a man of strength, compassion, and conscience,” with a penchant for being defiant of superiors who choose to put themselves and their careers over the men they lead.
Up next, fans can catch Bradley James starring opposite Sean Bean, Richard Madden, and Dustin Hoffman in Medici: Masters of Florence on Netflix. Season 2 of the series will be available to stream beginning January 25.
