Children of the ’90s, The Disney Channel is calling. And they’re roping us in with the possibility of a little more Boy Meets World.
The Disney Channel is looking to develop a sequel to the long-running ABC sitcom, which aired from 1993 to 2000, TVLine reports.
The new series would reportedly follow the life of Cory and Topanga’s preteen daughter in a show aptly named Girl Meets World. According to TVLine’s sources, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are in early talks to bring back high school sweethearts Cory and Topanga 12 years after Boy Meets World aired its final episode.
Boy Meets World Executive Producer Michael Jacobs is already casting for the new show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As you’ll recall, when we last left Cory and Topanga back in May of 2000, they were leaving their hometown, along with Shawn and Eric, to start anew in New York City, where Topanga was set to start a new job. Then came the epic goodbye scene where Mr. Feeny uttered those heartbreaking parting words, “I love you all. Class dismissed,” to an empty classroom and, well, we’ve never been the same.
Just last month, Savage set BMW fans atwitter with a cryptic tweet hinting at a possible reunion.
You never know, Brooklyn ;) RT @brooklyndecker: Why is Boy Meets World trending?? Perhaps (dare I say) a reunion? Please tell me this is why
