Two music icons may team up to create a new song for Disney’s reimagining of The Lion King.

Elton John, who recently announced he would retire from touring following a 300-date world tour, spoke to The Sun and offered some exciting news about Jon Favreau’s forthcoming Lion King co-starring Beyoncé as Nala.

Elton revealed that he’s partnering again with Tim Rice, who he worked with on the 1994 animated Lion King. What’s more, a few of the classics will be returning:

“There’s going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?’, ‘Hakuna Matata’, ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’ and ‘Circle of Life,'” he said. “And then there will be an end, closing song, and we’ve been speaking to Beyoncé’s people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something.”

Given the original film’s excellent soundtrack, the bar will be high for Beyoncé’s new song created specifically for The Lion King. The end credits song on any film tends to be released as a single, so we expect it’ll get a lot of air play should it come to fruition.

Elton talks like there’ll only be five songs in the film, but maybe they’ll surprise us with one or two more (like “Be Prepared”?!?!).

The new Lion King arrives July 19, 2019 and stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Simba’s father Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and Alfre Woodard as Simba’s mother Sarabi. Other stars include John Kani as Rafiki, John Oliver as Zazu, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner as Timon.
