Following the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 in theaters last month, we put up a poll asking which film you think is the best of the Saga.
The definitive answer, as determined by fans, is… Breaking Dawn – Part 2!
The last of the five films scored 50% of the overall vote. Twilight ranked second with 19%, New Moon third with 13%, Eclipse fourth with 12%, and Breaking Dawn – Part 1 ranked last with 6%.
We’re surprised that there could be such a stark difference in between Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2 considering they handle the same book by Stephenie Meyer. Part 1′s results may’ve been hurt by some slow parts in the story and the fact that it was all an introduction for what would come by the end of Part 2.
One could argue that the last film did best because it was most fresh in everyone’s minds, but the margin of victory is so high that we doubt even a couple months of stewing could’ve shaken up the final results.
We’re not surprised that Twilight came in second place. The original film, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, holds a special place in the hearts of fans for numerous reasons. For one, it was unknown prior to its November 2008 release whether or not it would be the next big phenomenon. In addition, the film had a very “indie” feel to it thanks in part to Hardwicke and because Summit was keeping the budget low. They didn’t want to make too big a production out of it if it underperformed at the box office.
Do you agree with the best Twilight film results?
Once Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is available on DVD/Blu-ray, and we get to check out any and all complete box sets that Summit releases, maybe the opinions of the fans will morph over time.
